20 of the Best Lyrics from French Montana’s ‘Jungle Rules’ Album

Epic Records

A lot can happen in a four-year span. Just ask French Montana, who has lived through more in that period than most experience in a lifetime. Releasing his debut album, Excuse My French, in 2013, after a decade spent building his reputation as one of the more prolific artists on the New York rap scene, French was riding high off his hit singles “Pop That” and “Ain’t Worried About Nothin,” and christened as a star in the making. Despite being a relative newcomer on the mainstream level, the Bronx native also had his sights set on becoming a boss in his own right, introducing Coke Boys, his own crew of lyrical bandits. Standout member Chinx proved French’s ability to brand his own artist, further increasing his stock.

However, tragedy would strike in 2015, when Chinx was gunned down in Queens, leaving French, who had already lost his former collaborator Max B to prison, in a state of mourning, and the future of Coke Boys in question. Two years after the fact, French has managed to bounce back in a big way from the adversity with his long-awaited sophomore album, Jungle Rules.

The project finds him attempting to build on the foundation he set with his debut LP, Excuse My French, and subsequent releases. Despite the setback of scrapping MC4 as his initial sophomore LP, French delivers a solid effort with Jungle Rules. Hooking up with Future, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Pharrell Williams, Quavo, T.I., Swae Lee and Marc E. Bassy, as well as a glorious showing by Max B and a posthumous verse from Chinx, French turns in a high-powered effort, with enough hits to keep his name in rotation for the foreseeable future.

We’ve picked out 20 of the best lyrics from Jungle Rules that are sure to become among your favorite quotables sooner than later. Enjoy.
