The 280,000m2 facility is part of the airport’s three-runway system expansion project worth HK$141.5bn (£14.6bn).
When work finishes in 2024, the concourse will feature sustainable design such as using extensive natural light to help to reduce energy consumption.
“The airport is an important symbol of any city, and we are extremely pleased to continue making the Hong Kong International Airport the pride of Hong Kong,” said Aecom Asia Pacific president Sean Chiao.
“We look forward to leveraging our connected expertise to deliver designs for this major project as well as the airport’s Terminal 2 expansion for which we were awarded consultancy work earlier.”
The new passenger building will serve up to 30M travellers per year together with the modified Terminal 2, and will have 57 aircraft parking places in its primary phase.
