Orange School reunion highlights | Our Neighbors

The 17th Annual Reunion for Orange School Alumni, family and friends was held recently at The Community Club in Glenwood with approximately 94 individuals in attendance. As early arrivals entered the building, they were registered by Flossie Wicker McFall ’48, later Judy White Morris ’53 continued with registration duties and also took minutes of the days activities.

Guests were seated at tables decorated in school colors of orange and black. Other decorations included photos of county tourney winners basketball teams of 1949, ’50, ’51, and ’52 along with Tiger heads decorating the windows and mantel of the venue. Table and room décor was provided by Judy White Morris assisted by her daughter, Melinda Anders.

Dianne and Tom Medd did tables and chairs and table service. Dianne coordinated the food for the pitch-in noon meal. Wanda Estes Vaughn also assisted with food line. Larry Johnson provided the delicous fried chicken which was enjoyed by all. Generous donations given by those present covered all expenses.

The 60 Year Honored Class, 1957 members were seated with 1957 Cardboard Chevy Belair Convertibles in Orange and Black. Senior Photos were placed as if the graduate were “driving” the cars. Favors included inside the cars were orange Tic Tacs, orange cheese crackers, Reese cup candy bars, small packages of Kleenex, and Orange or Black Led Flashlights.

Those present from the class of 1957 were Duane Beaver of West Lafayette, Roy Tope of Woodburn, Leo Herrmann of Greenwood, and Julia Border Granger of Centerville. 70 year graduate Bob Nobbe was recognized as a member of the 1947 graduating class and was also the recipient of an identical car with goodies and a pennant with his name and class inscribed. The cars and contents were donated by Grace Clifford.
