Revolution vs. Whitecaps: Preview, Projected Lineups and How to Watch

Two distant foes will clash Saturday night in Foxboro when the Revolution host Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Though the two sides share staff and player connections, the match may feel foreign, as the Revs and ‘Caps haven’t squared off since June of last year. The Revolution won that match, 2-1.

Here’s everything you need to know about the week 23 matchup:

Current Form

New England: L-L-L-W-W-L
Vancouver: L-W-W-L-W-D

Chances to Win

Despite suffering a 4-1 loss last week, the Revolution head into Saturday’s match as the heavy favorite. The navy and red have a 52 percent chance of winning and a 23 percent chance of earning a draw, according to FiveThirtyEight. Whitecaps FC serves as the underdog with a 26 percent chance of winning.

Stat that Matters Most

That’s Vancouver’s road record this season. And while four wins seems less-than-stellar on the surface, only one team in MLS—the LA Galaxy—have earned more road wins this season.

Club Leaders

Several different Revolution players have pushed the attack forward this season. Lee Nguyen, Juan Agudelo and Kei Kamara lead the way with eight goals each, while another trio—Nguyen, Diego Fagundez and Kelyn Rowe—have each added six or more assists. Rowe, who has featured throughout the midfield and in both fullback positions, has done much of the defensive dirty work. He leads the team with 59 tackles (3.1 per 90 minutes).

Vancouver has also spread the wealth this season. Fredy Montero leads the team with nine tallies, and 12 other players have combined to score Vancouver’s other 23 goals. Midfielder Christian Bolanos, after ending July with an assist in three consecutive matches, has added a total of seven helpers this season. Bolanos creates 2.3 goal-scoring chances per match, more than any of his teammates.
